Asset-based motor carriers only

Who we fund, and the criteria that change by segment.

We fund asset-based motor carriers. If you own or lease the power units and you move the freight, you are in scope. If you broker it and never touch it, you are not — and we would rather say that here than on your tenth phone call.

By segment

Nine segments, three of the thresholds, one table.

Power-unit minimums differ by authority type. Everything else is the same across segments.

Why specialized authority gets a 2-unit minimum

Specialized carriers — tanker, hazmat, reefer, flatbed, car haul — have the lowest failure rates in the industry. The barrier to entry (endorsements, equipment, insurance) that keeps their competition out is the same barrier that makes them durable. A 2-truck tanker operation is a materially better credit than a 5-truck dry van operation, and our criteria say so.

Out of scope

Who we do not fund.

  • Freight brokers and 3PLs with no owned or leased power units.
  • Carriers under an active FMCSA out-of-service order. No product, no exceptions, until it is lifted.
  • Carriers whose only receivables are from a related-party shipper. There is no independent credit to underwrite.
  • Carriers with an open involuntary bankruptcy. Come back when it is resolved.
  • Driver-staffing agencies that place drivers but hold no authority.

Why the 24-month rule exists

Motor carriers with fewer than two years under their own authority have an average three-year failure rate of 85% (FreightWaves, August 2026, citing Mitsubishi HC Capital America).

Under 49 CFR Part 385, a new carrier is also inside an 18-month FMCSA new-entrant monitoring window and must pass a safety audit in its first 12 months — authority can be revoked by a regulator for reasons that have nothing to do with the bank account.

We will not write an unsecured advance against that. We will factor your invoices from day one, because factoring is secured by the broker’s credit, not yours.

Three questions sort any segment.

Power units, months of authority, average monthly deposits.

See what your segment qualifies for → Specialized authority — reefer, flatbed, tanker, hazmat, car haul — qualifies at 2 units.
